10th Oxfam TowerRun to raise funds for most vulnerable communities

Registration closes on 15 Sept 2023

The Oxfam TowerRun, which will be held on 22 October 2023, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Oxfam is committed to making the Oxfam TowerRun a major tourism and sports event in Macau. This year, for instance, the Towerrunning World Association officially recognised the Oxfam TowerRun as a 120-point event.

Representatives from General Association of Athletics of Macau, AIA International Limited Macau Branch, Occasions Public Relations Macau Limited, Banco Comercial De Macau, Ming Kei and Macau Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre and other sponsoring organisations attended the Oxfam TowerRun press conference today. Together, they encouraged the public to participate in the tower running charity event.

Participants will take up the challenge of running up 1,298 steps from the ground floor of the tower to the adventure deck on the 61st floor. Not only will they be pushing themselves to achieve their personal best, they will also be raising funds for Oxfam's poverty alleviation and development projects, enabling people experiencing poverty to be more resilient in the face of climate change.

Join the Oxfam TowerRun, challenge yourself, and raise funds to support vulnerable communities!

Climate change is bringing extreme weather events to every region across the world, and impoverished individuals are often the hardest hit during disasters. Close to 30 million people across East Africa are living in crisis levels of hunger or worse, and urgent action is needed. Oxfam responded quickly to the food crisis in East Africa by providing immediate relief, but there is much more to be done. Oxfam TowerRun participants can help those facing severe drought and the food crisis, as well as poor communities around the world to fight climate change by joining the event!

The drought in East Africa has left nearly 30 million people living in hunger. Oxfam took swift action and has been providing assistance to survivors, however, the situation remains critical. By participating in the Oxfam TowerRun, participants can raise funds and help people living in poverty across the globe to cope with climate change and become more resilient to disasters!
